LSWR Wagon Pack 1

£4.99

This pack of LSWR wagons for Train Simulator Classic includes a variety of open wagons and vans to make up a mixed rake. The majority of them survived to receive SR lettering, and the more numerous vans even made it to nationalisation, but were withdrawn a few months into 1948.

Description

Of the three railway companies that would form the Southern Railway in 1923, the LSWR had the largest pool of wagons, with a variety of specialised stock to carry such things as frozen goods, road vehicles, blocks of stone from Meldon and Portland or strawberries from Botley, Swanwick and several other towns on the network. This pack of LSWR wagons for Train Simulator Classic includes a variety of open wagons and vans to make up a mixed rake. The majority of them survived to receive SR lettering, and the more numerous vans even made it to nationalisation, but were withdrawn a few months into 1948. Most of the surviving LSWR wagons on Britain’s heritage railways was in service at several RNAD Depots and/or the Longmoor Military Railway, where many have been altered and rebuilt with non LSWR parts. As a result of that these vehicles don’t make for good prototypes to study, but at least they’re still around to be looked at and in some cases a restoration to running order has been undertaken (since the military wasn’t interested in the historic background of the wagons, their original identities, such as numbers and build dates, are almost impossible to find out).
